Secondo le volont\u00e0 di Jeff Bezos, la serie doveva essere il nuovo punto di riferimento del fantasy cinematografico e rivaleggiare con <a href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Il_Trono_di_Spade_(serie_televisiva)\"><i>Game of Thrones<\/i><\/a>, se non persino esserne superiore.<\/p>\n<p>Queste, almeno, le speranze del CEO di Amazon che a conti fatti, invece, si ritrova per le mani uno spettacolo da baraccone. La volont\u00e0 di superare lo show della HBO era talmente forte da spingere la sua casa di produzione a costruire nuovi studios nei dintorni di Praga, non trovando troupe e location disponibili per girare l\u2019intera serie.<\/p>\n<p>Con una macchina produttiva costruita ad-hoc, disponibilit\u00e0 economica praticamente illimitata e attori sotto contratto per diverse stagioni, era solo questione di tempo prima che il <em>Trono di Spade<\/em> venisse spodestato e Approdo del Re conquistata. Per la gioia di alcuni e la delusione di altri, in realt\u00e0, non \u00e8 stato cos\u00ec. Verosimilmente mai lo sar\u00e0, nonostante Benioff e Weiss (<em>Game of Thrones<\/em>) ci abbiano messo del loro per rovinare l\u2019ultima stagione di una serie che ha decretato un punto di svolta nel mondo delle produzioni seriali.<\/p>\n<p>In <i>The Wheel of Time,<\/i> sin dal primo episodio, si percepisce un continuo senso di <i>d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu<\/i>, una sensazione di gi\u00e0 visto che odora di stantio, a partire dalla sigla, sorta di ibrido mal riuscito tra gli <i>opening<\/i> di <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Westworld_(TV_series)\"><i>Westworld<\/i><\/a> e <i>Game of Thrones,<\/i> ma accompagnata da un <i>main theme<\/i> tutt\u2019altro che di carattere e facilmente dimenticabile. Situazioni e personaggi ricalcano, anche se in veste diversa e caricaturale, quelli di <a href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Il_Signore_degli_Anelli_(serie_di_film)\"><i>The Lord of the Rings <\/i><\/a>in modo cos\u00ec servile che intertestualit\u00e0 e citazione non si possono chiamare in causa.<\/p>\n<p>Si ha persino l\u2019impressione che alcune sequenze siano state abbozzate nello stesso modo in cui Peter Jackson ha diretto i lungometraggi della trilogia dell&#8217;anello. Qualcuno potrebbe obiettare che le somiglianze con <i>Il Signore degli Anelli<\/i> derivino principalmente dal materiale prodotto da Jordan, a cui l\u2019editore aveva chiesto di creare un\u2019alternativa all\u2019opera tolkeniana. Obiezione respinta in quanto si parla di un adattamento, dove quindi show runner, sceneggiatori e registi hanno la possibilit\u00e0 di rappresentare il materiale sorgente in modo fedele pur con originalit\u00e0.<\/p>\n<p>In <i>The Wheel of Time<\/i>, non solo la regia \u00e8 assolutamente scolastica e priva di ogni creativit\u00e0, tanto che copia \u2013 senza citare \u2013 altre produzioni, ma presenta anche incoerenze nei movimenti di macchina e nei raccordi spaziali, come se dietro la macchina da presa ci fosse un regista alle prime armi. La sceneggiatura \u00e8 un colabrodo, mostra buchi ovunque, alcuni talmente grandi che disorientano, dando vita ad ellissi o azioni senza alcun senso logico.<\/p>\n<p>Tuttavia, quello che fa sprofondare la produzione Amazon nelle fogne a cielo aperto del Fondo delle Pulci \u00e8 proprio la recitazione da guitti della maggior parte degli attori. Eccezion fatta per Rosamund Pike, attrice di esperienza che si salva nel tentativo, comunque non riuscito, di rendere cazzuta la sua Moraine, e per qualche altro in ruoli marginali, come Peter Franzen, il cast dei protagonisti (Stradowski, Madden, Harris, Robins, Rutherford) impressiona per scarsa abilit\u00e0 attoriale.<\/p>\n<p>Incapaci di andare oltre un\u2019interpretazione dilettantistica, meccanica e impersonale, portano in scena dei personaggi senza alcuno spessore psicologico, inespressivi e artefatti. Sono le Nozze Rosse del pathos, la caduta dell\u2019epicit\u00e0 dalla Torre Spezzata, il patibolo di ogni climax. Tutto \u00e8 dozzinale, compresi i costumi e una CGI che non regge nemmeno il confronto con quella di produzioni meno costose.<\/p>\n<p>Non serviva la veggenza del Corvo con Tre Occhi per capire che un prodotto di questo genere non avrebbe nemmeno lontanamente potuto scalfire le mura di Castel Granito o abbattere l\u2019albero cuore di Grande Inverno.
