Le inquadrature oblique e dall\u2019alto, unite al sapiente uso di sinistri effetti sonori, non possono che ricordare <a href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Psyco\"><i>Psycho <\/i><\/a>(Hitchcock, 1960), mentre l\u2019hotel e i movimenti di macchina, che lentamente svelano gli angusti corridoi da dietro gli angoli, richiamano in qualche modo le atmosfere di <a href=\"https:\/\/it.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shining_(film)\"><i>Shining<\/i><\/a> (Kubrick, 1980).<\/p>\n<p>La narrazione procede lentamente senza che ci sia un reale punto di svolta horrorifico, cosa che contribuisce incredibilmente ad aumentare la tensione. West gioca molto bene con le aspettative del pubblico fin dall\u2019inizio dove, attraverso un espediente banale ma azzeccato, suggerisce come, in ogni momento, possa accadere qualcosa di spaventoso e inaspettato. Di fatto, pi\u00f9 passa il tempo, pi\u00f9 si percepisce l\u2019urgenza che questo evento improvviso e terrificante debba avvenire.<\/p>\n<p>Suspence e tensione in continuo aumento sono di certo il punto di forza della pellicola che, giunta al suo climax narrativo, non riesce per\u00f2 a trasformare l\u2019inquietudine accumulata in un vero e terrificante spettacolo horror.
